Learning how to develop her own unique voice, Shweta graduated Brown University with a B.A. in Economics and Anthropology. After graduating, she went on to spend six years as a financial consultant at Ernst and Young, building her skill for numbers and patterns as she spoke with CFOs of Fortune 50 companies and analysts alike. It was through both experiences that she learned that the most important skill she (and others) has to offer is finding confidence in the person she knows herself to be. Now serving as a copywriter and content director for women-led startups and digital apps, she is constantly finding mediums to help others develop the voice that empowers their brand. She uses her ability, as a professional speaker, to articulate that which is original about each person, each vision, and each project in helping both brands and individuals tell the stories they want to share.
Through years of working and studying hard to get into the school of her dreams, she came to understand that college, beyond grades and scores, is looking for what makes you irreplaceable, what makes you shine. Yet, she realized that we are never taught or supported in developing our individuality. We are taught to write in outlines and frameworks, told to stay within the lines, and encouraged to use a thesaurus over our own individual vocabulary. She believes we deserve every opportunity to share who we are with the world, and college is the first major transition in the evolution of who we will become in the world.
With the tools of writing and storytelling and a pop-culture flare, Shweta encourages students to find the power in being unique. Her experience is one that many students will face, one that invites them to learn just how much they have to offer. Her role is not as an instructor of the “right way” but as a reminder that each student knows the perfect way to share themselves with each person they meet, not just in college but throughout life.
